Work
When we asked Isa's mom what her typical work day consisted of she said:
"I input and collect data and maintain records information for the 737 students at our school."
Activity Time Spent
Working 8-9 hours
Sleeping 5-7 hours
Leisure 1-2 hours
Eating 2 hours
Cooking, Cleaning, etc 1.5 hours
Grooming 1 hour
Caring for children, elderly, etc 5 hours
Shopping 1 hour
Volunteering 0 hours
Education 6-7 hours
Talking to people on the phone 4 hours
If my mother didn’t have to drive her kids all over town each afternoon, she would have more time to volunteer and spend time with her family. So if we changed her 5 hours of caring for children to 4 hours, she would have an extra hour for volunteering, which is better than 0 hours of volunteer work.
When we asked Yaman what her typical work day consisted of she said:
-“I spend the majority of my time either in dance classes or in academics.”
Activities Time Spent
Working 7.5-9 hours
Sleeping 7 hours
Leisure 1.5 hours
Eating 1 hour
Cooking, Cleaning, etc 10 minutes
Grooming 50 minutes
Caring for children, elderly, etc 0 hours
Shopping 5 minutes
Volunteering 0 hours
Education 7.5-9 hours
Talking to people on the phone 30 minutes
Other(homework) 1 hour
If Yaman took a little less time grooming and talking on the phone, she would definitely have at least an extra hour to spend with family or even volunteer. So what we were thinking was if took 20 minutes from her grooming time and about 15 minutes from her time spent talking on the phone she would have an extra 50 minutes to spend either helping other or just having fun with her family.
